The barn fire was about 1942. George was working the farm when the barn burned. My uncle and Oliver Thompson, who was no relation to Hans), help bury the Cattle. He thinks about 30 head died. The Thompsons and Arnold and Ruth Nelson were well known in the area. Arnold Nelson was a painter and painted different homes about 1933 before having a permenant pastorhood.
